Healthy Lungs
Breathe Easier and Get Fit
The Healthy Lungs program is a supervised exercise program designed for individuals who:
- Have completed a pulmonary rehabilitation program
- Require medically supervised exercise
- Require supplemental oxygen during exercise
- Are unfamiliar with basic exercise principles and have pulmonary concerns
Education, risk factor reduction, and other lifestyle changes are regarded as essential elements of the Healthy Lungs program.
Exercise sessions begin 11am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The focus is on cardiovascular conditioning, improving oxygen utilization and exercise tolerance, and reducing the fear of shortness of breath.
A personalized exercise program will be designed based on your medical history, personal needs and goals. The class will be run by a respiratory therapist along with an exercise physiologist. Each participant's exercise program is assessed on a daily basis for appropriate progression. Medical progress notes may be provided to your physician upon request, or on an as-needed basis.
