Massage Therapy

“Give yourself the gift of relaxation”

What you can expect during a massage therapy session:

Going for a massage for the first time can sometimes be intimidating, with this in mind, we have put together some of the most frequent asked questions.

Where will the sessions take place?

Your massage session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table designed for your comfort.

Who will perform the massage?

A massage therapist licensed by the state of Florida will conduct your massage.

Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?

The therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet.

Must I completely undress?

Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort.

Will I be covered during the massage?

You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being massaged will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?

This is dependent on the type of massage session you desire. A typical full body massage will include the back, arms, legs, feet, hands, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near you genital (male and female) or breasts (female).

What lubricant will be used?

A light oil or lotion will be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin.

What will the massage feel like?

It depends on the techniques used by the therapist. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help you to calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body relaxes, pressure will gradually increase to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Feel free to communicate to the therapist if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage is most effective when your body is not resisting.

Are there different types of massage?

There are numerous types of massage; various techniques utilize different stroke, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, pressure to specific points, etc. Ask the therapist about the methods that they use.

How long will the sessions last?

The average full body massages lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows for a partial massage, such as the neck and shoulders, or legs and feet.

What should I do during the massage?

Make yourself comfortable. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their massage. Feel free to ask the therapist about massage in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
