Healthy Lungs
Healthy Lungs Program is a supervised – monitored exercise program; designed for individuals who:
- Have completed a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
- Require medically supervised exercise
- Require supplemental oxygen during exercise
- Are unfamiliar with basic exercise principles and have pulmonary concerns
Education, risk factor reduction, and other lifestyle changes are regarded as essential elements of the Healthy Lungs Program.
Exercise sessions are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The class begins at 11:00 a.m. The program includes the following exercise components:
- Flexibility
- Resistance Training
- Cardiovascular Conditioning
- Improve Oxygen Utilization
- Reduce your fear of shortness of breath and increase your tolerance of exercise
A personalized exercise program will be designed, based on your medical history; as well as personal needs and goals. The class will run by a Respiratory Therapist along with an Exercise Physiologist. A Registered Nurse will be available to answer and/or follow up with medical issues. Each participants exercise program is assessed on a daily basis to ensure appropriate progression. Medical progress notes may be provided to your physician upon request, or on an “as needed” basis.
