TMJ Therapy
Temporomandibular joint injuries, commonly referred to as TMJ, encompass soft-tissue damage to the jaw musculature and internal derangement of the joint itself. Pain may be present in the head and neck or related to headaches. While causes of TMJ dysfunction remain obscure, it has been associated with poor oral habits or stress.
If you have TMJ dysfunction, you may be experiencing:
- Pain in the neck
- Headaches
- Facial pains
- Popping/clicking sound when jaw is opened or closed
- Limitation of jaw opening
- Inability of the teeth to fit together when the jaw is closed
Our physical therapy team can assist with relieving the pain and educating people on preventative methods to avoid another episode. The team will utilize a variety of treatment methods to accomplish these goals.
