Function Capacity Assessment
Function capacity evaluations are performed by registered occupational therapists. Evaluations are most often performed on injured workers following a plateau in therapy to determine a person’s current level of function; however, they can be ordered any time once the condition is stable. Goals of the evaluation are to:
- Identify level of function in daily living activities
- Identify physically demanding work trait factors
- Address safety issues including proper body mechanics and materials handling
- Identify safe unilateral and bilateral dynamic lifting capacity
- Assist the employer and employee in determining back-to-work capabilities
Recommendations may include additional therapy, work conditioning or health and fitness center referrals.
