Sports Physical Therapy
The physical therapy sports medicine team at Memorial Hospital West have specialized training and experience in sports medicine.
They work in a team setting to treat a variety of sports injuries. This team includes the patient and family, physicians, physical therapist, exercise physiologist, athletic trainer, nutritionist, occupational therapist and massage therapist.
Such conditions may result from overuse injuries, trauma, sports related injuries and accidents. Common diagnoses include fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, acl rehabilitation, little league elbow, labral and rotator cuff tears, Osgood-Schlatters Disease, Sever Disease, shin splints.
A physical therapy evaluation is the first step in the rehabilitation process. The therapist will set up a treatment program to meet the patient’s needs based upon the orders of a physician. Physical therapy is aimed at regaining the prior level of functioning and returning to the patient back to sports.
As a team at Memorial Hospital West we concentrate on prevention of injury, rehabilitation, return to sports, sport specific conditioning and enhancement and skill training.
