The goals of physical therapy for urinary and/or fecal incontinence are to decrease or resolve leakage, attain a normal voiding frequency, identify bladder irritants and provide continence for all activities.
Memorial has specially trained physical therapists who will perform an initial assessment to determine your specific treatment protocol. An initial assessment may include an internal pelvic examination. All assessments and treatments are performed in a confidential, comfortable and sensitive manner. The physical therapist will discuss normal bladder health and pelvic floor function. The therapist will also help treat your condition by providing you with a personalized exercise program, a bladder diary, a voiding schedule, a fluid management system and bladder retraining.
